new and revised designs for print, web, ect…

website!!!

oh.my.god.

nataliekafader.com is a fully functioning website now! i’m so excited! i wanted to create a portfolio site totally from scratch to work on both my web design and coding skill and i feel like it turned out pretty well. there are of coarse things that i want to improve on especially as my knowledge of jquery, javascript, and php increases, but for now i’m stoked.

there is also a link to the “blog” on my website so you can get a sneak peak at what the new blog design is going to be like! that ones not quite finished yet but, totally getting there!

because i’m probably a nerd

so i guess i have way too much time on my hand what with a job, school, and taking weekend excursions to music festivals, but i who needs sleep when you could stay up way to late rebranding? ha! me!

branding & collaterali wanted to come up with some stuff to be able to use on my new portfolio site, and (spoiler!) blog redesign.

keepin’ busy

i’ve been keeping super busy lately with a bunch of projects, school, personal and client. so i thought it would be fun to share a few little snippets of what i’ve been up to lately.recent work snipetsi’ve been doing a lot of logo work it seems like lately; reworking the logo for ZP for some t-shirts they want to get printed, (remember this post about the company and original logo) as well as doing the branding for an eco lighting company. then theres school, my portfolio development class has proved to be a lot of work especially since i want to design my portfolio website from scratch, but it’ll all come together (hopefully by the end of the semester). and i’ve been having some fun making a calendar, a bunch of girlfriends and i are going to take a road trip this summer so i thought it would be helpful to have a fully illustrated calendar of where and what we are going to be doing! ha! i obviously have too much time on my hands.

looking for inspiration

the past two weeks have been a little… no, a lot hectic. between work, school, freelancing, and getting sick i’m feeling a little drained. so in search of some new inspiration i’ve been trawling pintrest and dribbble.

another semester

so another semester has come and gone, and what do i have to show for it? now that finals seem like a distant memory (wait, that was only last week huh?) i figured i’d share a little of what i’ve been doing for the past 4 months.

lots of being a nerd and writing HTML and CSS

html & css Screen shot 2012-12-27 at 10.14.46 AMthe class i took focused mainly on using dreamweaver to create mark up, i’m not really all that into dreamweaver and (in my opinion) stupid “short” cuts so coded most of my projects by hand… wow, super nerdy…

then i did some more design-y work in my web design class.

pier39-redesign project

group project, a mock redesign of the pier 39 website.

hoha-mockup-designneighborhood business website mock up. i had to do our favorite local dive bar, the HoHa.

i also did an app project for this class, which proved to be more challenging than i thought. it was also my first time having to do anything app related (other than using them on my iphone). so i came up with this history adventure app where you’d be in a location and all the points of historical interest would pop up on a map and give you some info about each spot. kinda cool right? maybe? or am i just a nerd?

history app mockup

i think i did some cool work this semester, i definitely learned a bunch, especially about app development and design!

next semester will be my last in the web design program and i’m going to be taking the portfolio development class and probably the advanced HTML class as well. and then on to the real world i guess, wow that sounds scary! (just kidding!)

advanced photoshop

it is the end of the semester, thank god! although i’m not totally out of the woods yet. my photoshop final was on friday, well actually the test was 2 fridays ago and the final project was due this past friday… anyways i figured i’d share some of the projects i did this semester.

#1 genetic modification

the animal family

#2 propaganda

friends dont let friends bite

zombie propaganda

#3 interface design

photo/illustrator app

its been a good semester and i had a lot of fun with these projects. the class was really informative as well as fun, its nice to be able to do a little creative work in what can really be a technical class (if you want to learn photoshop CCSF’s classes are good!).
